Did my best to be a good Samaritan by taking up 45 min pacing duties at Lane Cove. The bonus is an effective day’s rest plus discount off next year’s membership.
Lambert had similar ideas as the 40 min pacer – one of few times he’s able to put 5 min on me.
Led a group that loosely included 3 girls, 2 guys and to my surprise, a prancing Mike Gleeson. I kept a fairly consistent 4:30 pace regardless of the inclines. For me, perceived effort got easier and easier. Everyone else struggled on the inclines, caught me on the decline.
Certainly this was noticeable on the 400m ascent to the half way turnaround.
Turns out I cruised home all alone. Not sure where my ‘train’ went?
0-5km: 4:30, 4:30, 4:49, 4:29, 4:47
5-10km: 4:27, 4:27, 4:36, 4:20, 4:37, 4:32
As always LC measures short, this time some 100m. Finished in 44:53, 4:29 min ave pace. Felt so fresh, as if I had barely warmed up. At least Gleeso was thankful.
